This gui, as one of the popular bronze vessels in the Shang dynasty, has a flared mouth, round body and a circular foot.  The handles are in the shape of dragons.  The dominant motif on this vessel is the phoenix pattern in several different groups.  Gui is a food container.  Since the Western Zhou period, there is a rectangular base attached to the bottom of gui which appears more magnificent and glorious.
