The making of underglaze blue is to first paint the design with cobalt; then apply a layer of transparent glaze over the body. The last step is to fire at a high temperature. This type of underglaze blue ware was produced as early as the Tang dynasty. In the Qing dynasty, cobalt, the blue color pigment was locally made so the color was fresh and light. |
